THE VISION

FAITH

According to The Sentencing Project, Georgia is ranked ninth in the nation on the list of the 10 most incarcerated states. Within the past six years the grant rate for parole-eligible lifers in Georgia fell from 23% to 19%, leaving little to no hope for lifers looking forward to a parole hearing. Many of these people have given up hope in reuniting with their love ones due to the lack of resources and motivation to better prepare themselves for life after prison. Many of them have not even obtained a High School Diploma or a GED even after being incarcerated well over a decade.

Hope

But what if there was a program that focused solely on those individuals that desired the opportunity of a second chance? A program to restore hope, educate, and help them to become truly fit for society? Bossforlife is a program designed specifically for inmates that are currently serving a life sentence in the state of Georgia. It is a program designed to help those that exemplify the desire to become parole ready for re-entry, and helps them to map out their lives throughout the re-entry process. They will be able to finally obtain their GED or High School diploma, learn a new trade, strive for their College Degree, and acquire life skill in becoming a entrepreneur. We believe education is a key component in the rehabilitation and re-entry process. It is one that has been documented by the RAND Corporation in conjunction with the U.S. department of Justice to have a 43 percent lower odds of recidivism than those who did not participate in any correctional educational program. Bossforlife wants to give lifers the right to become educated entrepreneurs; and learn from their mistakes in an effort to become resourceful law abiding citizens again.

There are 7,910 people that are currently serving a life sentence in the state of Georgia...

Georgia ranks fourth in the nation in the size of it's parole-eligible lifer population. Since 1995, the state has enacted statutory changes that delay parole eligibility for lifers convicted of serious violent felonies, gradually increasing the required minimum sentence from seven to 30 years. State of Georgia.

ABOUT THE VISION

The Vision of Bossforlife is to ignite the fire of hope and give life back to incarcerated individuals that are currently serving a life sentence in the state of Georgia. Many of these individuals have been incarcerated well over a decade, and have never obtained their GED, nor do they have any ideas on how to maintain life after prison. Our ultimate goal is to give hope, and equip the lifer population here in Georgia with the skills to re-enter society as a rehabilitated and reformed citizen. We are focused on those that have paid a considerable debt to society, but seemingly have not been afforded the second chance opportunity to validate and establish themselves back into communities. We MUST equip them with the necessary tools to succeed in an effort to decrease the recidivism rate and truly impact and reform our criminal justice system here in Georgia.

ABOUT THE FOUNDER

Bossforlife was founded by LaTasha Pyatt. Having first hand experience with family and loved ones that were wrongfully convicted and sentenced to life in prison, Tasha set out to rewrite the wrongs and change the trajectory of those individuals that had no hope of returning back to society. She now dedicates her life to the mission of ending mass incarceration, fighting for justice for the wrongfully convicted, and restoring hope back to those individuals that have spent the majority of their lives in prison. Tasha also partners with local organizations as a mentor for women that are currently incarcerated. It is her passion and purpose that will extend far beyond the prison walls of Georgia and abroad. All in an effort to restore hope and give back to the world, all that has been given unto her.

WE LOVE OUR SPONSORS

One may ask; "Why invest into inmates that may never be released?; and the answer is very simple; "Providing education to incarcerated individual should not be based on a myopic conception of efficacy; instead people in prison deserve education because the collective project of learning is and should be understood as a human right." These individual will indeed at some point be released back into our society, and it is for this reason we are so grateful for each and everyone that support us in preparing them to become sustainable, law abiding contributors to society. The impact of your contributions will go far beyond a donation; It gives hope and a second chance back to individuals that would have never regained the ability to succeed, nor the knowledge of how to do so without your support.
